The Legacy Ballroom Wedding | Many Wedding Day Performance Surprises

It’s hard to believe this was the last wedding of 2018 for us. The year went by so fast. We were happy to have our last memory of the year with Sara and Jay at The Legacy Ballroom in Glendale. What a sweet couple, and boy do they know how to dance!

During their engagement session we had a blast kicking up sand and playing on the Santa Monica Pier. Posing came naturally to Sara and Jay so we knew when it came time for their wedding we would have lots of fun and get some really natural photos.

When we arrived for their getting ready photos they had us smiling right away recounting their bachelor and bachelorette party stories from the previous night. Our favorite quote from the groom was, “Us guys are more risk averse than the girls. The girls did karaoke, we went axe throwing”. (Come again? No, not risky at all ;). Wish we could have photographed that.

Sara and Jay’s wedding had a lot of moments that stand out. One of our favorites was from Sara’s brother. After giving his toast during dinner, Sara’s brother unveiled his gift to the couple—a large painting he did using one of their engagement photos—he claimed it’s just a hobby, but we agree he’s an amazing artist!

In a very special performance Jay serenaded his new wife, playing the piano and singing to Adele’s “Make you Feel My Love”. He told his guests that he is shy and doesn’t like to sing in public, would have fooled us! He had everyone in tears especially Sara.

Now to the dancing. They got their reception going with some well choreographed dances. Sara and Jay not only moved so well together for their first dance but even had fog pouring out onto the dance floor, really upping the performance value, I give it a 10!  Everyone showed off on the dance floor including the parents, plus a brother/sister dance which had everyone smiling. It was like watching Sharpay and Ryan in High School Musical—yes make fun of me I love musical movies! I was so impressed with Sara and her brother’s relationship. I can only hope my little boy and girl will be just like them when they grow up. I admit I was tearing up thinking about it.

Sara and Jay, thank you for letting us capture your big day. We wish you all the very best and can’t wait for you to see all your photos, but for now here are our very favorites to sum up the day!
